The Luxembourg stool: low, easy seating to pull up to a table for an extra space or two. Stacks away or slides under the table when not needed.
It was in the 1920s that the Luxembourg low armchair first appeared along the pathways of the famous Paris park from which it takes its name, straight from the Parisian workshops that manufactured the first versions. Who could know then that, decades later, the workshop at Fermob dedicated to traditional crafts would recreate them? In the 1990s, at the request of the Jardin du Luxembourg, Fermob started manufacturing the armchair once again (although those versions are heavier, as they’re made of steel).

With the Luxembourg high armchair, the Luxembourg range goes lofty. Extending the range from its original low seating, the Luxembourg range grows up!
Whilst the range may have started originally with the low armchairs and duo armchairs, since then the range has extended upwards. Ideal for a contemporary terrace or an urban loft setting, the Luxembourg high armchair and its matching highchair and high table, allow you to create a thoroughly modern setting.
Building on the legacy from the 1920s when the Luxembourg low armchair first appeared along the pathways of the famous Paris park from which it takes its name; this demonstrates how Fermob keep on innovating.
Available in all the Fermob metal colours.

The Luxembourg collection from Fermob, initially produced for the public parks in Paris, and recreated by Fermob has become something of a legend in its own right.
About Luxembourg
Its style is an emblem of French design – an expression of French culture in furniture form! Today, Luxembourg is a fabulous collection made from aluminium whose watchwords are lightness, joie de vivre and in addition, conviviality. Recently, Fermob asked Frédéric Sofia to reinterpret the legendary chairs and armchairs of the city’s parks.

History
Originally created in 1923 in the Paris parks department workshops, Fermob still manufactures the range today for the city’s public gardens. From the Jardin du Luxembourg, together with the Tuileries gardens around the Louvre to Place de la Concorde, millions of visitors have relaxed with this range.
With the contract today to make the furniture for the parks in Paris, those are made of steel, rather than the lightweight aluminium seen here.

Today
The result today is a collection of furniture with the same distinctive lines and forms. It combines the lightness and resistance of aluminium with the comfort of curved seat slats.
As well as low seats, a rocking chair, coupled with footstools & benches, up to dining sets for ten people; this is the most extensive range from Fermob.

A word on low seating…
In the Luxembourg range there is now a choice of low seating.
The new Luxembourg lounge chair and armchair differ from the Luxembourg low armchair and low armchair Duo.
The lounge models sit slightly higher (42 cm) and a little more upright (108°) and are available in a chair and armchair.
The low models, both armchairs, sit a little lower (41 cm) and lean back a little more (113°), and are available in a single and double – Duo – seating options.
Designed by Frédéric Sofia for Fermob.

The Luxembourg small low table (and it can double up as a footrest) is an ideal companion piece. We’ve got one next to the Luxembourg low armchair in our garden, to keep books and drinks nearby.
In the Luxembourg range, use this as a low table to accompany the low armchair and low armchair duo, or as a footrest with other chairs.

Within the Luxembourg range, the Luxembourg large low table or garden bench is a great companion to the range. Alternatively use it as a low bench when you need a few extra places to seat people.

It can also double up as a bench for extra seating, although please note that this bench is a little low to be used with a table – for that the Luxembourg long bench is better suited.
