Luxembourg lounge chair

The Luxembourg lounge chair is a new (for 2023) low chair.

Taking its inspiration from the Luxembourg low armchair, it’s a slightly less laidback chair (108° angle, as opposed to 113°) with an ever-so- slightly higher seat (42 cm, as opposed to 41 cm) – all of which give it a surprisingly different feel. See the image below for a side-by-side comparison.

The history of Fermob and Luxembourg chairs…

It was in the 1920s that this armchair first appeared along the pathways of the famous Paris park from which it takes its name, straight from the Parisian workshops that manufactured the first versions. Who could know then that, decades later, it would be reproduced by a workshop dedicated to traditional crafts at Fermob. In the 1990s, at the request of the Jardin du Luxembourg, Fermob started manufacturing the armchair once again.

And now…

Today, the Luxembourg low armchair continues to charm thanks to its numerous qualities: its lightness makes it easy to move it from one end of the garden to the other; its clever design includes accessories such as a headrest and low tables to create a lounge corner; and its practicality means it is perfectly stackable for easy storage.

And Fermob have designed an entire range of furniture, inspired by this iconic, classic design; encompassing not only the low, chilled out designs from Jardin du Luxembourg, the range also includes low tables, dining tables, benches, foot stools and even a rocking chair!
