Sharpening stone by Opinel


For keeping your knife blade in perfect condition, this sharpening stone from Lombardy can be used lightly wetted. All knives benefit from a little routine maintenance now and then.

Make sure the blade is clean and dry before you start sharpening and lightly wet the stone. Press the knife down hard on the stone and starting at the base of the blade, move towards the tip. Aim to keep the blade at an angle of 20 degrees to the sharpening stone, and pull the blade across the stone, alternating sides. After several passes, clean the burrs off that form by passing the blade across the stone with lighter pressure. Finish with a very light pass.
